The US Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) is nowhere near relaxing the ban on electronic device use during landing and take-offs. The ban continues despite calls from many quarters including the FCC officials and senators, and despite the fact that there is no proof of any risk to the aircraft by portable consumer electronic devices.
Often the only hazard the devices cause is the violence meted out by fellow passengers on users of electronic devices in the belief that they are saving the lives of other people on the plane!
