India has introduced a tourist visa-on-arrival plan at five more of its airports – Goa, Thiruvananthapuram, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kochi.
India offers visa on arrival for citizens of 11 countries – Japan, Singapore, Finland, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Philippines, Myanmar and Indonesia. It also plans to extend the scheme to 10 more countries including Germany, France and Russia in the future.
Earlier, the visa-on-arrival facility was only available at Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata airports. Goa and Thiruvananthapuram, capital of the state of Kerala, are popular tourist destinations while Bengaluru and Hyderabad are important commercial hubs.
