It seems that the airlines not only acknowledge the difficulty faced by economy passengers while sleeping but have also given up on prioritizing comfort by focusing on entertainment instead. Major South American airline LAN – the second member of the two-member LATAM Airlines Group after Brazilian airline TAM – focuses on in-flight entertainment for its long-haul economy class travelers and comfortable sleeping experiences for its business class passengers, according to a senior airline official.
The airline has introduced the Panasonic eX2 in-flight entertainment system in its recently inducted Boeing 787 fleet and also plans to install these in its 767 fleet. Its Brazilian partner TAM is the only Latin American airline to offer in-flight Internet and mobile phone connectivity on some of its planes and the group (LATAM) is considering expanding connectivity options in its aircraft.
