Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) has approved the construction of an intra-airport connecting facility as well as a new checked baggage inspection facility. The In-Line Checked-Baggage-Inspection System will feature new explosive-detection systems that will increase security and free lobby space in Terminal 4, thereby reducing passenger congestion.
The airport also approved the construction of a Secure Passenger Connector between Terminal 4 and Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT). This will allow screened domestic passengers heading for an international flight to move between Terminals 4, 5, 6 7, and 8 to TBIT without undergoing rescreening. This will be a great time-saver for anyone connecting to an international flight.
Both the projects have an estimated combined construction cost of about $107 million.
