German airline Lufthansa will operate its low-cost subdivision under the brand name Germanwings. The airline announced that its point-to-point flights between Germany and other European cities will be operated under the new brand name beginning January 1, 2013.
At present, Germanwings offers all-economy seating with additional fees for luggage and meals. Lufthansa Chief Executive Christoph Franz said in a statement that Lufthansa’s flights on all European routes except its hubs in Frankfurt and Munich will be operated by Germanwings.
