A short video from the 2012 Championships
Surf will be up at the Munich Airport in Germany for the annual Surf & Style event hosted at the airport from July 31 to August 25. The world’s largest standing surf wave will be built between the two terminals for the third European Championships in surfing on a stationary wave.
Travelers can participate in the event by surfing on the artificial wave in the wave pool – registration is required two days in advance, with complimentary equipment provided – as well as by simply observing the event while relaxing in a lounge chair.
Events include 3-day surf camps for children with professional instruction and the European Championships, held on August 10 and 11. If you’ll be at the airport during the event, a downloadable daily schedule is available from the airport’s website here.
An accompanying attraction is the Surf and Turf bar, which offers fine seafood and beef dishes as well as drinks.
Munich Airport is a major hub for Lufthansa and its Star Alliance partner airlines.
