Hamad International Airport (HIA), the second major airport of Qatar’s capital Doha after the Doha International Airport (DIA), is set for opening on April 1. Ten international airlines – mostly South Asian airlines, including Yemen Airways, Nepal Airlines and Air India Express – will be operating from the new airport’s Concourse B in Terminal 1 when it opens. Qatar Airways plans to move to the new facility by the end of this year.
Upon opening, there will be about 33 daily departures from the new facility. The airport features free WiFi access throughout its premises. Additional features include duty free shopping, prayer rooms, facilities for children and a cafe.
Hamad International Airport is located 4 km from the existing airport, Doha International. All the construction, including a terminal for dignitaries, a maintenance hangar, cargo terminal, parking facilities, rail station and more, is expected to be complete in 2020.
