Norway-based low-cost airline Norwegian will operate direct Dreamliner flights between New York’s JFK Airport and the Norwegian city of Bergen on the west coast of the country in the Summer 2014.
The once-a-week flights to Bergen, known as ‘the Gateway to the Fjords of Norway’ will be the first direct flights between the two cities.
The flights will depart from JFK on Fridays at 9:30 p.m. local time and arrive in Bergen at 10:35 a.m. the following day. The flights will operate from May 9 to September 27.
Bergen – Norway’s second largest city after the capital Oslo – is surrounded by one of the world’s most stunning tourist attractions – the Norwegian Fjords. The city is a great starting point for travelers planning to explore the fjords and combines big city facilities with small-town charm and atmosphere.
Norwegian currently operates six weekly flights from both New York and Fort Lauderdale to three Scandinavian cities (Oslo, Copenhagen and Stockholm) using Dreamliners.
The airline also plans to launch flights from Oslo to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Orlando; from Stockholm to Los Angeles and San Francisco; and from Copenhagen to Los Angeles and New York in spring 2014.
In July 2014, Norwegian will launch 3 weekly flights between London Gatwick and New York and 2 weekly flights between London Gatwick and Fort Lauderdale.
