LAN Colombia, part of Latin America’s LATAM airline group, formally joined the oneworld airline alliance on October 1, 2013.
The other major LATAM group partner, Brazil’s TAM Airlines, will join oneworld on March 31, 2014, according to the alliance in their official press release.
Other airline affiliates of the group – LAN Argentina, LAN Ecuador, LAN Peru and LAN Colombia — have also joined the alliance as affiliate members. With the joining of TAM in March, all LATAM airlines will become members of oneworld.
LAN Colombia LANPASS frequent flier program members will now enjoy privileges, including the ability to earn and redeem awards and earn tier status points, when they fly with any other oneworld member airline.
LAN Airlines, which had been a member of oneworld since 2000, merged with TAM in 2011. TAM was formerly a member of the Star Alliance.
