Perth Airport has become the latest Australian Airport to get the new full-body scanners. In December, Melbourne Airport deployed the scanners.
Eight major Australian airports – Sydney, Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Darwin, Cairns and the Gold Coast – are scheduled to get the new scanners in coming months.
The new body scanners being introduced at all major Australian airports use a stick figure image in scan displays to address privacy concerns and use millimeter wave technology for minimal health hazard. Passengers are selected at random for scans.
