The alliance between Qantas and Emirates has important ramifications on flights to Australia for airline travelers and the airline industry. In some ways the alliance is an admission of defeat by Qantas that it lacked the network coverage of its competitors. However, the alliance is overall a good deal for Qantas as it allows it to focus more on the rapidly growing Asian air travel market. The deal also offers its customers vastly increased coverage in Europe as well as huge benefits for the Qantas Frequent Flyer members.
