Australian airline Qantas may launch direct flights to Beijing and India and increase flight frequencies to Hong Kong and Singapore when it receives its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft in 2016.
Qantas CEO Alan Joyce has said the airline is still planning the details of the flights and that it has not yet confirmed its 787 orders.
Qantas canceled its order for 35 Boeing 787 Dreamliners in 2012 in return for an option to buy 50 stretched 787-9 aircraft in 2016. Qantas’ low-cost Jetstar is expected to take delivery of the first of its ordered 14 Boeing 787-8s later this year.
