Qantas has resumed flights to the Gold Coast Airport in Queensland, four years after it handed over the route to its low-cost subsidiary JetStar. The three daily return flights, which were launched on October 28, use Boeing 737-800 aircraft and have received a positive response from travelers.
The key difference between connecting from Sydney to the Gold Coast on a Jetstar flight versus a Qantas flight for international fliers is that Qantas allows 2 pieces of complementary checked luggage for international travelers and Jetstar’s allowance is only one piece of checked luggage. Additionally, the Qantas airplane is less cramped and beverage service is complementary.
Qantas is also opening a new Qantas Club lounge at the Gold Coast airport in the second half of November to replace the existing JetStar lounge.
