Qatar Airways has announced through its official Twitter feed that it will be adding Philadelphia to its network. The airline said that it plans to operate non-stop flights using twin-aisle Boeing 777 aircraft from the city, beginning from March 2014.
Philadelphia will be the fifth US destination covered by Qatar Airways after New York JFK, Washington Dulles, Chicago O’Hare and Houston Bush Intercontinental. In addition to the 5 US cities, the airline also flies in North America to Montreal, Canada.
Qatar Airways recently announced that it will join the oneworld airline alliance in October. Philadelphia is a major hub of US Airways. American Airlines, a key oneworld member, will finalize a merger with US airways in the third quarter of this year.
