Qatar Airways plans to nearly double its US flights with the launch of daily non-stop flights from Philadelphia, Dallas/Fort Worth and Miami to its hub in the Qatari capital, Doha, in spring/summer 2014.
The Philadelphia to Doha flights will be launched on April 2 using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The flights will depart Philadelphia at 10:30 a.m. local time, and arrive in Doha at 6:10 a.m. the next day. On the return, flights will depart Doha at 1:10 a.m., and will arrive in Philadelphia at 7:55 a.m.
Qatar’s Boeing 777-300ER aircraft offers 293 seats in Economy and 42 seats in Business Class arranged in a 2-2-2 layout.
The business class seats are fully-flat, with a width of 22 inches and a pitch of 78 inches. The airline’s Business Class product was ranked as the “World’s Best Business Class” at the 2013 Skytrax World Airline Awards.
The Miami-Doha flights will be launched on June 10 and Dallas/Fort Worth flights will be launched on July 1 using Boeing 777-200LR aircraft.
In the United States, Qatar currently operates non-stop flights to New York, Chicago, Houston, and Washington, D.C. from its Doha hub.
In Doha, passengers can connect with the airline’s flights to destinations in India, Africa, the Middle East and Asia such as Abu Dhabi, Bangkok, Delhi, Hong Kong, Jakarta, Nairobi, Kuala Lumpur, Colombo, and the Maldives.
The airline also plans to expand its existing code-share agreement with US Airways to include flights to and from Philadelphia.
The code-share will include flights from Philadelphia to Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Fort Meyers, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Palm Beach, Phoenix, Raleigh-Durham, and San Francisco.
Qatar’s code-sharing arrangement with US Airways, which merged with American airlines in late 2013, offers a single ticket, one-stop check-in and reciprocal earning and redeeming of miles or points for the both airlines’ frequent fliers on all flights of the other carrier.
Qatar Airways joined the oneworld airline alliance in October 2013; US Airways will join oneworld – which has AA as one of its founding members – on March 31, 2014.
