A Minnesota-based company is promoting the use of personalized QR codes to reunite travelers with their lost luggage.
Users can register at the GoCodes site to create individualized QR codes. The codes can then be printed on stickers and affixed on luggage items.
If the luggage item gets lost, an airport employee or a good Samaritan or someone interested in the reward can then use his/her smartphone to scan the code and contact the company to initiate the retrieval process.
By no means a fool-proof solution, it does slightly increase the odds of retrieving a lost item.
QR codes can also be generated free of cost online (for example at QR Code Generator) or through freeware smartphone apps. You can embed your contact information such as an email address or other details in these codes.
