Brisbane, May 28 -- Qantas announced today that it would increase the number of flights to Brisbane from Los Angeles with the introduction of two additional
flights effective March 2008.
Qantas Group General Manager Sales and Distribution Rob Gurney said the new services would expand flights between Brisbane and Los Angeles from five per week to daily.
"A daily service provide customers with additional choice and flexibility, as well as valuable inbound tourism opportunities for Queensland.
"Passengers travelling from the US will benefit both in terms of convenience and capacity, with more than 800 extra seats available between Los Angeles and Brisbane," he said.
Mr Gurney included that the two additional non-stop flights from Brisbane to Los Angeles would operate on Tuesdays and Thursdays using B747-400 aircraft.
He said that Qantas would also provide one additional Sydney-LAX flight from March 2008, which would take the number of flights to Australia to a record 43 per week from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane to Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York.
"Qantas has steadily grown capacity between Australia and mainland USA in recent years.
"The delivery of the Airbus A380 in August 2008 will provide a significant capacity increase and allow Qantas to explore further network expansion opportunities.
"These latest additions to Qantas' Pacific schedule will not only meet demand for Australians travelling to the US, but also provide additional travel opportunities for Americans wishing to purchase airfare to Australia.
