Moroccan state-owned airline Royal Air Maroc is undergoing a major renewal in 2013 to help it better compete in the highly competitive Moroccan air market. The loss-making airline will reduce its employee count by nearly 25 percent as part of the restructuring.
The airline is also inducting new aircraft and putting old aircraft into storage. Its outstanding aircraft orders include 13 Boeing 737-800s, four Boeing 787-8s and four ATR72-600 aircraft. Royal Air Maroc has extensive routes throughout Africa through its hub in Casablanca. The airline is not a member of any airline alliance.
The Moroccan government eventually plans to privatize the airline after a successful restructuring.
