Scandinavian Airlines plans to significantly upgrade its long-haul fleet with the induction of 12 Airbus aircraft and a total upgrade of the passengers cabins on its existing A330/340 aircraft. The 12 new aircraft will include 8 Airbus A350 XWBs and 4 Airbus A330s.
In addition to the order for 8 A350-900 aircraft, the airline will also have an option to order 6 more similar aircraft. The A350s will be delivered beginning in 2018.
The 4 A330-300 Enhanced aircraft will be inducted beginning in 2015 and offer 2 percent less fuel consumption with a large increase in range.
The upgrade of 7 A330s/A340s will be completed by 2015 and include fully-flat seats in Business class and a high definition full video on demand in-flight entertainment system.
