Adequate seat pitch is one of the most important factors determining comfort during a flight. Seat pitch refers to the distance between the back of a seat and the back of the seat in the next row. Measurements are taken when the seat is an upright position.
Economy class seat pitches range from 28 inches on low-cost carriers to 34 inches on some full service carriers such as Korean Air.
More seat pitch does not always translate to more legroom as it depends on the design of the seat. Many airlines are now introducing slimline seats that offer more seat pitch available for passenger’s space when compared to a traditional seat, where more of the seat width is included in the seat pitch measurement.
