The Australian airline industry has urged the federal Australian government to consider Badgerys Creek as the site for the proposed second airport for Sydney. Industry representatives have also requested that the new airport should be operational within 10 years to deal with the inevitable air-traffic congestion issues that will increase over in time.
The current Australian government government prefers Wilton, 80 km southwest of Sydney, over earlier selected Badgerys Creek, 50 km west of the city, as the preferred site for the airport.
