The new SilverKris Lounge showcases Singapore Airlines’ unique heritage and the heritage of each lounge city

Singapore Airlines has debuted its new SilverKris Lounge design in the Sydney (Australia) International Airport. This is the first in their program to upgrade all of their airport lounges around the world.

The new lounge design is based on the ‘home away from home’ concept and offers distinct personal spaces that provide a sense of ‘being home,’ in addition to a more personalized services from the lounge staff.

According to Tan Pee Teck, Singapore Airlines’ Senior Vice President Product & Services, the new lounge concept focuses on the familiar and comforting areas in travelers’ homes. The authentic, personalized service for which Singapore Airlines is known will add to the home away from home experience.

The new lounge design has been created by architectural and interior design firm ONG&ONG after extensive research and feedback from focus groups and customers.

The design includes a customized batik design screen in the welcome foyer that can be recognized from afar by the lounge guests.

The lounge interior features tastefully selected art pieces, sourced locally and from Singapore. Lounge guests can relax in signature Singapore Airlines’ armchairs and use personal spaces tailored for different needs, ranging from a living room, kitchen and dining room to intimate coves for rest and relaxation.

The new lounge design will be progressively introduced in all of Singapore’s SilverKris Lounges in an additional 14 cities around the world over the next five years at an estimated cost of around $100 million.

The 15 cities are Adelaide, Bangkok, Brisbane, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, London, Manila, Melbourne, New Delhi, Perth, San Francisco, Seoul, Singapore and Taipei.

Planning work is already underway to upgrade the airline’s lounges in London, Hong Kong and Singapore (Terminal 3) in 2014.

A new ‘taste of Singapore’ food concept featuring iconic dishes from Singapore, such as laksa and mee siam, as well as food choices from around the world and a wide range of premium wines and spirits, will also be progressively introduced in all SilverKris Lounges in the future.
