SkyTeam airline alliance will launch a trial interface with Canadian low-cost airline WestJet at Vancouver airport in the coming autumn, according to Apex Editor’s Blog.
The operational interface will trial an exchange of information between SkyTeam member airlines and WestJet during passenger transfers and will eventually lead to smoother connections and more connecting options.
Five SkyTeam airlines operating out of Vancouver – Air France, China Eastern, China Southern, Delta and KLM – will be involved in the trial.
SkyTeam is trying to develop a common SkyTeam platform for the smooth exchange of information between its member airlines and low-cost carriers in markets such as India, Brazil and Canada, where it does not have local members. Such a platform would expand the reach of SkyTeam member airlines in these markets.
