The solar powered Solar Impulse aircraft has completed its nearly two-month Across America Mission with the successful completion of the flight between Washington, DC and New York on July 6.
The single-seater plane, which began its journey on May 3 from from Moffett Airfield near San Francisco, California, completed its journey across the continental US in a total of five flights during May, June and July.
The aircraft’s flight route included stops in Phoenix, Dallas, St. Louis, and Washington, DC before the final Washington, DC-New York flight.
The Solar Impulse aircraft team is offering public tours at JFK Airport on Saturday, July 13 from 3:30 am to 7:30 pm and on Sunday July 14 from 11 am to 7:30 pm.
