Southwest has selected 90 non-profit hospitals and medical organizations that will be included in its Medical Transportation Grant Program for 2013. The program offers free roundtrip air travel to patients with serious illnesses, who need to travel to receive medical care. Southwest will offer airplane tickets worth over $2.8 million to caregivers and patients in 2013.
This is the sixth year of Southwest’s Medical Transportation Grant Program. The selected hospitals include many prominent ones, including Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Shriners Childrens Hospitals throughout the country, and St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
A complete list of the selected recipients for 2013 is available on Southwest’s website. Since the program began 6 years ago, Southwest has donated more than 26,000 tickets for medical transportation.
