The Boeing 747 or the Jumbo Jet is one of the most iconic jetliners and one that redefined air travel. The first 747 was flown in 1970 and the aircraft held a passenger capacity record until recently when the Airbus A380 surpassed it.
The aircraft is also the world’s first wide body aircraft and one of the most recognizable airplanes in the world.
This video by SpeedBird HD compiles footage of various versions of the 747 family over the years – including the long range 747-SP and the latest member of the family – the 747-8.
Even as many airlines replace their old 747s, the more fuel-efficient versions of the aircraft are expected to keep the Jumbo Jet in the air for quite some time.
