Most international flights to Tokyo arrive at the Narita airport, which is about 60 km from Tokyo (over an hour by taxi). Haneda Airport is a much closer alternative as it is located in Tokyo city itself and is just 14 km from Tokyo’s largest intercity train terminal, Tokyo Station.
Haneda mostly handles domestic flights while Narita mostly handles international flights. A dedicated international terminal opened at Haneda in 2010 and both major Japanese airlines – ANA and Japan Airlines (JAL) fly to Haneda from the United States.
Lounges at Haneda include three ANA lounges, three JAL lounges and many other multi-airline lounges operated by the airport operator. A major attraction at Haneda are the tours of ANA’s huge aircraft maintenance center.
