United Airlines launched annual subscription options for its extra legroom economy seating option, Economy Plus, and checked baggage service charges on its domestic and international flights in June 2013.
United customers will now be able to access Economy Plus seating for one year at subscription charges starting from $499.
The airline’s checked baggage subscription will allow customers to pay their standard checked baggage charges for one year in advance. The subscription charges start at $349 for domestic flights and considerably more for international flights.
Customers can also select preferred geographic regions and the number of travelers for both subscription services.
United’s Economy Plus extra-legroom seating offers 37 inch seat pitch, 5 inches more than economy. It is available on nearly 700 mainline United aircraft and 180 United Express aircraft.
United is the only US airline to offer annual subscriptions for the two services.
Will the other airlines follow?
