United announced it will launch nonstop seasonal (summer) flights between its hub at Chicago O’Hare International Airport and the city of Edinburgh in Scotland on May 22, 2014 – in time for vacationers to head across the pond for Scotland’s 2014 Homecoming festivities.
This will be the first scheduled direct flight between the two cities.
The flights will operate 5 times a week from May 22 to June 11, daily between June 12 and September 1, and 4 times a week between September 2 and October 5, 2014.
The flights will use 169-seat Boeing 757-200 aircraft with 16 flat-bed seats in BusinessFirst, 45 Economy Plus extra-legroom seats and 108 seats in Economy.
United currently also operates year-round direct flights to Edinburgh and Glasgow from its hub at Newark Liberty International Airport .
