United is testing a program at Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport in July 2013 to transfer its premium passengers on connecting flights between terminals by Mercedes-Benz cars.
A United official said in the frequent flier forum, Flyertalk, that the program is using two cars – one S-Class sedan and one GL-Class SUV – at present.
Selected United Global First customers will be greeted by a United customer representative on the jet bridge and guided to an awaiting vehicle for transfer to the connecting terminal.
This service may expand to other airports depending on the success of the test phase.
Several other airlines, such as Lufthansa in Frankfurt and Munich, and Delta in Atlanta, offer similar services for their premium passengers.
