The US Department of Transportation (DOT) has proposed more flights by US carriers between the US and Brazil as of June 2013.
The additional flights, which are pending approval, include an American Airlines daily non-stop flight between Los Angeles and Sao Paulo, and an additional daily Delta flight between Sao Paulo and Atlanta.
Delta will also continue its daily flights between Detroit and Sao Paulo and US Airways will continue its daily flight between Charlotte, N.C. and Sao Paulo.
The new flights will be under a 2011 agreement between US and Brazil that provided for more flights between the 2 countries by 2015.
Brazil is expecting a boost in US visitors to the country due to the 2014 FIFA World Cup soccer tournament and 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
