Virgin Atlantic is considering joining an airline alliance, according to its founder and president Richard Branson.
The airline has so far resisted joining any airline alliance and Branson said that as every competitor has joined an alliance, it is reconsidering its stance and may take a decision in “3 to 4 months.”
The airline may consider joining either the Star Alliance or the SkyTeam alliance as oneworld has its rival British Airways as a member. Star Alliance appears to be a likely choice as Singapore Airlines, which owns the 49% stake in Virgin Atlantic not owned by Branson’s Virgin Group, is a member of Star Alliance.
